What is Authentic Living?
For many… maybe even for most… “Distracted Living” has become their M.O.
We’re plum busy, folks.
Busy with jobs, extra-curricular activities, social
media, television, and smartphone usage. We’re stressed, tired, and too hurried
to slow down.
Some of it is unavoidable, but friends, much of it is done by choice.
And if we’re not
careful, Distracted Living will weaken our marriages, our parenting, our
spiritual and mental health, and our friendships.
Friends, that seriously scares me.
It’s frightening because it’s SO easy to slip into
being distracted instead of being intentional.
This website is
a call to action.
A united family initiative. A plea for us all to recognize our busyness and make a choice to live authentically.
So what is “Authentic Living”?
Authentic Living is about keeping your family,
friendships, and faith…
… Real.
… On purpose.
… Proactive instead of reactive.
… Connected.
… Balanced.
… Grace-filled.
… Creative and full of wonder.
It’s about cherishing precious joys and learning from
trials.
It’s about focusing on making memories (the process)
more than meeting deadlines (the product). Not
that deadlines aren’t important—but the end doesn’t justify the means.
It’s about strengthening your relationships and
thinking ahead.
It’s about
performing maintenance instead of waiting until you fall apart.
Because, eventually, you will fall apart.
In the end,
Authentic Living is about building a life you are proud of.
Are you proud of your life?
What legacy do you want to leave behind?
Friends, consider this… where will
your life be if you don’t perform maintenance? If you don’t simplify your
life, prioritize your true priorities, and strengthen your relationships, you
will lose control over those plates you try to spin day after day.
Where will your
life be if you don’t perform maintenance?
Even scarier, where will your children’s lives be?
Your spouse’s?
Instead…
Imagine if you
put on your adult pants and lived the life you were meant to live.
Because that’s what it’s really going to take… putting on your adult pants.
It’s going to take effort, friends. A lot of effort.
Transforming your life doesn’t happen without it.
But how worth
it! For your
children. Your spouse. Your faith. Your friends. Yourself.
Courage to be
the person, to live the life, you were meant for. That’s what it means to live authentically.
At the Art of Authentic Living, my prayer is to give
you tools to continually mold your authentic life. Activities to do as a
family, workable plans to better balance yourself, and ways to fortify your
Christian faith. Ideas to make your life more creative, sincere, intentional,
grace-filled, steadfast, balanced, and loving.
Friends, will
you join me in leaving behind the distracted life?
